Biotech at a planetary scale.
Big Picture
Today’s global bioreactor capacity isn’t enough to supply current, let alone future, demand for food, chemicals, and materials. Legacy bioreactors are also a massive energy draw. If we project a future in which we’re operating millions of them, we need to make sure the energy demand that bioreactors will require won’t blow the sustainability gains we’ll get from biomanufacturing to shreds.
How it Works
Biosphere is building modular bioreactors with integrated downstream processing for 10x cheaper than anything on the market today. By drawing inspiration from modular battery cathode manufacturing supply chains, using UV LEDs to sterilize their equipment between batches, and building automated control systems, they can scale at light speed and save big on energy and opex too.
Unfair Advantage
Biosphere’s team boasts some of the best names in the business of biotech. Coupled with relentless pursuit of talent and patented capex-and-opex saving design, this team is poised to scale quickly and take over manufacturing for anything and everything that can be grown in a bioreactor. From science and tech to market and more, Biosphere knows what it will take to build a bioeconomy at scale.
