Lyna is an Associate at Lowercarbon Capital, where she works with founders on storytelling and spends her time thinking about how AI can be used to unf**k the planet.
Lyna previously built ways to distribute wickedly accurate AI-based weather forecasts at WindBorne Systems AND co-founded LightbulbML, an AI patent software service, acquiring hands-on experience with F500 companies until the company’s acquisition in 2024. She also worked at the National Weather Service to help companies like Google and Microsoft make sure the best weather forecasts remain available as a public good.
Lyna graduated from Stanford University with a B.S. in Computer Science and an M.S. in MS&E. She formerly led research collaborations between the Stanford AI Lab and the Earth Systems Dynamics Group to understand the trustworthiness of AI-based models of our planetary systems and when they fail.
Lyna grew up with her grandmother in South Korea and later with her parents in Los Angeles. Raised on food stamps and acts of unconditional kindness with zero expectation of return, she’s a believer in founders who come from nontraditional backgrounds through sheer force of will and smarts.
