Alexandra Frumar is General Counsel at Lowercarbon Capital, where she brings over a decade of experience rolling up her sleeves alongside early-stage teams to help them launch, build, and scale. She approaches legal work as a strategic lever to accelerate growth and build long-term resilience.

Before joining Lowercarbon, Alexandra was Chief Legal Officer at Remora, a Lowercarbon portfolio company developing carbon capture devices for heavy-duty vehicles. There, she led both legal and government relations, helping shape and support the company’s rapid technical and commercial progress. Prior to that, she co-founded FD Law, a boutique firm trusted by Y Combinator and its community, where she served as outside general counsel to a broad range of companies at all stages. She worked side by side with founders from formation through fundraising, team building, and strategic growth—with a particular focus in later years on climate tech companies.

Earlier in her career, Alexandra was in-house counsel at AppDirect and spent time at Silicon Legal Strategy. She holds a JD from Santa Clara University School of Law and a BA in Literature, with a minor in Politics, from UC Santa Cruz.

After more than a decade immersed in startups, Alexandra took a sabbatical to slow-travel the world with her husband and two kids. They homeschooled, lived out of one bag each, and created a rhythm of building community, finding good coffee, and seeking adventure that she still carries with her. Now back on the grid (and with kids in school) in the Bay Area, she fills her free time with reading, travelling, puttering around the garden, hiking, dancing, and raising kind and funny kids.
